Afghanistan-Pakistan clashes: Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan continue to escalate. Pakistan attacked Kabul late Thursday night. Following this, Afghanistan retaliated late Saturday night. A fierce clash broke out on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. According to Afghan media, 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the clash.
In response to the Pakistani attacks, Afghanistan attacked Pakistani military posts near the Durand Line in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces late Saturday night. Security sources told Tolo News that 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the clash between forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and Pakistani forces on Saturday night. Sources also said that a Mil Dehshika tank was captured by Afghan forces in the clash.
Apart from this, according to sources, 5 Pakistani soldiers have also surrendered before the forces of the Islamic Emirate in the Maiwand district of Kandahar province. According to senior Taliban officials, Taliban forces launched armed retaliation against Pakistani soldiers. They allege that Islamabad had carried out air strikes on Afghan territory. The Taliban claimed that they had captured two border posts of Pakistan in the southern part of Helmand province, which was also confirmed by local officials.
Pakistani security officials acknowledged clashes in several border areas and said they retaliated strongly. A Pakistani government official told The Guardian that Taliban forces opened fire on several border posts overnight.
On Thursday, there were two blasts in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and another blast in southeastern Afghanistan. After this, the Taliban-controlled Defense Ministry accused Pakistan of violating its sovereignty.
Islamabad has expressed its growing resentment towards Kabul, although it has not confirmed or denied its role in the air strikes. Although Islamabad has not clearly claimed responsibility for the attacks, it has appealed to Kabul to stop harboring TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan). TTP has been accused of killing hundreds of Pakistani soldiers since 2021, and its fighters are believed to have received training in Afghanistan and have ideological links with the Afghan Taliban.
The Foreign Minister of Afghanistan is currently on a tour of India. For the first time after assuming power in the year 2021, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan is visiting India. Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Muttaki is on a visit to India from 9 to 14 October. Pakistan is shocked to see the strengthening of relations between India and Afghanistan. In the meantime, they attacked the country. After this, now Afghanistan has also responded.
